Federal Government Resources
Social Security Disability Insurance is available by the federal government for people with disabilities who meet certain criteria. 

Compassionate allowances pertain to certain medical conditions that are considered by the government to be severe enough to cause obvious disability and such cases may be expedited through the approval process. 

ABLE accounts are specialized savings accounts designed to allow savings for medical expenses for the severely disabled without losing government subsidies.

Rhode Island 

The Sherlock Plan, a Medicaid Buy-In Program that offers comprehensive health coverage for working people with disabilities in RI.

State Health Insurance 

Medicaid and CHIP is a program to ensure adults and children have access to proper health care. To be eligible, certain criteria must be met and varies by state. Click on link to find your state.
Katie Beckett law allows certain children under age 19 who have long term disabilities or complex medical needs to become eligible for Medicaid coverage. Katie Beckett eligibility enables children to be cared for at home instead of in an institution. See each state's requirements for applying for this program.
